2008: beast or beastly? by:log

well, there is only 2 days left in 2008 and i thought i would write how i feel about that.

i can say that
2008 was one HELL of a ride. maybe a bit of a loop de loop? looking back, it had its awesomes and its unfortunates. here is my blurry 2008 watercolor masterpiece: i turned 21 this year, saw a dear friend get married, finished up my 1st semester of my last year as an undergraduate, made the executive decision to take a year off of school, turned down the peace corps, fell in love with the art of streaking, worked with some of the funniest wide-range of people at virginia tech while learning that top of the stairs (or TOTS, as it's called around bburg) is apparently the "it" place to hang out, met a boy, broke that boy's heart, learned that bagels aren't for chasing vodka, developed a lifelong devotion to the song "picture" by kid rock and sherly crow thanks to a blissful night of karaoke in johnson city, and learned to play dutch blitz. i made new, wonderful friends who made me laugh until i cried, let friends go, and nurtured old friendships, fell in love with myself, slept in a box to raise awareness about homelessness, and got more bad grades then usual because i decided to enjoy myself. i became even more elusive than ever, spent a weekend at a monastery in kentucky (which turned out to be the best weekend of my life), and ended the year with an acute addiction to watching "celebrity rehab with dr. drew." i reconciled with my mimi who two months later had a stroke and is now in rehab (my family likes to call her amy winehouse), came to terms that i have no idea what the hell i want to do with my life and that's okay, and learned to fall in love with people. 2007 was a kr-azy year.

and so, in honor of this redonkulous year that has thankfully come to an end, i have made a rather lengthy list (don't judge me, stay up out my bidness) of some favorite songs to celebrate. It's my "07 Mix" or"Booty Poppin' Beats" or even better yet:

thanks! giving. by: logan

it's finals time and i'm trying so hard to avoid a philosophy paper so i'm posting again!!!

so this years thanksgiving at the lambert household was much different then years past. mom decided it would be awesome to do a vegetarian dinner because as mom says, "the FDA doesn't give a shit about us and lets us put sick meat in our bodies which causes us to get all sorts of crazy-ass shit to grow in our bodies!" obviously mom has gotten a hold of my skinny bitch book.
so what did mom decided to feed us this thanksgiving?

tofurkey.

if you don't know what tofurkey is, it's basically faux turkey. made with tofu. (go ahead, it's okay to throw-up.)

we also had peas and carrots, WINE, and sweet potato pie for dessert! mmmmmmmmmmmpsych!

now, while i am very thankful that we had food on our table, i am not thankful for tofurkey.
or the FDA.

so i learned a lot this thanksgiving too, especially not to take people too seriously. story follows.
my mom's brother and his 15 year old son came to stay with us and i was having a conversation with my 15 year old cousin and he asked if i had a boyfriend. my answer shocked him slightly yet he went on (with my entire family present now) to ask when i was graduating and what i was majoring in. my answer of 'bible and religion' elicited a few chuckles and then as he put the pieces together, he arrived at the conclusion that since i was single and majoring in religion, i was inevitably going to become a nun.
for the remainder of the holiday weekend, my whole family addressed me as "sister logan caroline"... and i spent the weekend crying.

like i have said many times before, after all, i'm not the one whose spiritual gift is celibacy.

Coffee Time!

Ok, so Log has been trying to coach me through my virginity of blogging, and this is officially my first time! She told me to blog about anything I was thinking at the moment (which is at times very scary). As most of you know, I am bound by the sin of drinking coffee. It is at this time during the day that I do most of my thinking, so I will also dedicate some of this time to blogging as well! And just to give you an idea of the kind of thinking that goes on: Everyday, I drink my coffee out of a John Deere coffee mug, so don't worry about things getting too deep! But my thoughts will probably be thoughts of my spiritual life and the sort, not always, but most of the time. So here goes nothing..........

I am the type of person that cannot tell anybody no. Whether it is to drive them somewhere, or do their homework (which I can proudly say I haven't done since high school), or carry their plates up to the belt in the dinning hall. It is a problem of mine, but I am working on it. I just want to see my friends and my family happy. It doesn't really matter if I'm happy or not, just as long as they are. That means, I will do pretty much anything it takes to make them happy. I love them all and I care about them, and I don't want them to be upset or disappointed in me. Therefore, I bend over backwards at times to get their wants met.

So I wonder why in the world is it so easy for me to bend over backwards for my family and friends, and yet I'm reluctunt when it comes to making one step of faith for the Savior of my soul. I will get up and drive back to school at 6:00 in the morning just so I can stay home and be with my mom, dad, and boyfriend the night before. But when I have the chance to drive to North Carolina for a weekend to a church, I try to find every excuse in the book not to go.

I heard someone say one time that people will pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars to get front row seats at a concert. But when it comes time for church, they want to sit in the very back. Guilty!

If my sister were to ask me to do her a favor, I might resist just because it's my sister, but sooner or later, I'll end up doing whatever she asks me to do. But when I feel the Lord lay something on my heart to do, I question and question and question. No matter how simple it is, I ask the Lord, "why in the world would You ask me to do something like that?"

Why is it like that for me? Is it because I can see the people who ask me to do things for them, and its just easier? If it is spoken to me then I know its legitiment and I can do those things with the confidence that I will get something later on down the road in return?

(Pause for a refill)

I'm not saying that I never want to do anything else for anybody else because that would just be lazy and mean. But I would like to keep this in mind the next time I feel like the Lord is directing me somewhere and I don't go. I love my friends and family, and I wouldn't be any happier doing the things that I do for them. But when the Lord deals with me about something, I pray that I can be more willing.

"All the coffee grounds" (or final thought.....I know, cute right)

"If God told you to strap a bulldoser on your back and go out and serve Him, your question to Him should be, 'what kind of strap should I use'". (Log i thought you would enjoy that quote haha)

Feel free to leave a comment, or cuss my crazy thoughts, or whatever!

this is our first (second attempt) blog!

notice: we used to have another blog but we both forgot the password so we started a new one!
so if a few of the blogs look familiar its because you've seen them before!

we're semi technology savy girls.....we both have computers.....we both want to have a new york times best seller, and therefore we decided to have our very own blog!!

the main characters:

andrea: a native of pounding mill branch, va. she loves potatoes, peanut butter, and anything redneck.

logan: she's a senior who loves all things hippie, leafy greens, and raisins. she is from (what andrea considers the north) christiansburg, va.

so this is us, andrea and logan , and we invite you to be part of our blog as we post......we're just two girls standing in front of you asking you to read this. (that is a take from some movie. you are supposed to laugh here)

ok, that is all look forward to more entries!!
